We as a club are changing & highlighting our main aims. We aim to be a community club, to grow our youth system over the next 3-5 years, we must grow our fan base, we want to build upon & continue to help players to develop & improve & also to achieve a sustainable future for the club in the community it serves & to move forwards as club.
We want to ask the Newham community to get involved & right behind their local non-league club at the very start of this journey. As we start by laying solid foundations for the future & our aim is building upon a good footballing philosophy on the pitch. We also aim to improve our youth section with football related partnerships over the next 3 seasons, starting this June.
To achieve this, we need a manager focused on the good footballing principles on the pitch & that we will encourage.
We are therefore delighted to welcome & appoint as our new First Team Manager Diogo Nobre.
Diogo holds a UEFA A coaching badge & we are pleased he has already started work on our 3 year project with the aim to achieve promotion from the Essex Senior League & into the Isthmian Division One North over the next 3 seasons, starting in June 2024. We will drive this club forward.
Diogo has a reliable background of coaching success in Portugal, reached two play-offs in a three year period as Assistant Manager with UD Fabril & CD Cova da Peidade.
In Finland, he stayed 6 years & achieved 4 promotions as a manager. Diogo was also Under 23’s manager at Casa Pia Atletico in Portugal before Ruben Amorin departed the club, leaving Diogo as Interim Manager. Diogo then achieved promotion to the 2nd tier of the Portuguese league structure.
In England, he has coached at Wingate & Finchley F.C. as Under 23’s Manager, at Enfield Town F.C. as Under 19’s Manager & more recently just last season as Assistant Manager at Eastbourne Borough F.C..
We believe he is the right man & will have the right coaching team supporting him along with the vast contacts he & others at the club have. We are aligned to achieve our objective over the next 3 seasons & the work towards that has already begun.
Upon his appointment being confirmed, Diogo said “I am delighted to working with Athletic Newham F.C. & have a passion for the project outlined with the board. I hope we can start making progress to achieve our goals of promotion over the next 3 seasons together & the players will all work hard to make this a reality.”
