Athletic Newham 3-4 Barking MATCH Report

After being knocked out of the London Senior Cup, we turned our attention back to league action as we hosted Barking FC β€” and what a game it turned out to be.

Athletic Newham came out strong and matched Barking throughout the first half. A well-taken goal from Remarle Lawrence gave us a 1-0 lead going into the break, shifting the momentum and certainly changing the half-time team talks for both sides.

The second half started even better. Chuks Uzor added a second, and shortly after, Lawrence struck again to make it 3-0. At that point, it looked like the three points were staying in Dagenham.

But football is never that simple.

As soon as the third goal went in, Barking kicked into gear. They responded with two quick goals to pile on the pressure, and despite a Harvey Simson penalty save late on, Barking completed a remarkable comeback with two stoppage-time goals, snatching all three points in dramatic fashion.

A tough result to take β€” but now it’s all about the response.
