Four games into the season and still searching for our first win — that might sound bad, but every match is another step forward as we learn and grow together as a team.
Our last game is one we’d like to forget quickly — but it also gave us plenty to work on in training. Thanks to the Veo footage, we’ve been able to break down the play, spot the key areas for improvement, and the coaches have been using that to help the players develop both individually and as a team.
Facing White Ensign, we knew it would be a tough challenge as they’re a strong side. They took their chances well on the day, and to be fair, we didn’t make things as difficult for them as we could have. At times, some sloppy or lazy passing and a lack of awareness — particularly when the ball was back in play from set pieces — cost us.
Unfortunately, we’ve had an 11-day break with no game due to FA Cup fixtures and the way the schedule has worked out. But we’re back in action on Wednesday, 20th August, as we take on Soul Tower Hamlets at Mile End Stadium — kick-off at 7:45pm.
Soul Tower Hamlets are a new club formed from the merger of Soul FC and Tower Hamlets just before the 2024/25 season. Both clubs had a strong history of community work, and by joining forces they aim to make an even bigger impact.
They earned promotion to the Essex Senior League last season after winning the Southern Counties East League play-off final on penalties against Forest Hill Park (now SE Don).
We know they’ve got a strong squad, and they’ve made an impressive start to life at Step 5 — picking up 5 points from their first 3 games (1 win, 2 draws, 0 losses). We’re expecting a real battle, and the Mile End Stadium pitch won’t make things any easier. From early pictures and videos, it’s clear the surface isn’t holding up well — even this early in the season.
