Just before halftime, Amersham Town’s persistence paid off when Sidney Gueye found space in the box and slotted home after a header from Luke Preedy, giving Amersham a crucial lead. Despite Athletic Newham’s efforts in the second half, including a dangerous free-kick from substitute Inesh Sumithran, they couldn’t find an equalizer.
The match ended 1-0, with Amersham Town advancing, thanks to disciplined defending and capitalizing on their first-half chance. Athletic Newham, despite their resilience, will feel hard done by, especially after their near misses.
