The draw for the FA Cup first round qualifying, Athletic Newham have been drawn at home vs fellow Level 9 side (Step 5) game to be played 31st August

The 2024/25 season began at the start of August for non-league teams from the lowest divisions, with the FA Cup extra preliminary round matches taking place early in the campaign too.

The FA Cup preliminary round actually took place on Saturday, with 136 matches played across the country. Those who progressed not only earned £1,444 but also a place in the first round qualifying draw.

Those still in the competition will be dreaming of going all the way to the final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, May 17. Perhaps a more realistic target is getting to the first round proper, which is still a fair distance away given there are four qualifying rounds still to come. Premier League teams are set to enter the competition at the third round proper stage.
